The latest official update in February 2026 indicates that the core technical requirements of Clause 1\u201310 have reached a consensus, and the final draft version (FDIS) is just around the corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the face of the upcoming major change of ISO 9001 revision, companies can start preparing now. The most pressing question for companies revising their ISO 9001 certification: How long is the certificate transition period?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the final rules will still be subject to the IAF (International Accreditation Forum), based on historical experience,<strong>The transition period for management system redesign is typically 3 years.<\/strong>The<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the redesign is successfully completed in September 2026, according to experience, the deadline for the transition is September 2029. In other words, the old version 9001:2015 will face certificate expiration in September 2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking back, including the administrative process time for application and certification, we estimate it to be 3-5 months, which means... <strong>New applications for verification after April 2028 will no longer be eligible to apply for the old 9001:2015.<\/strong>You must apply using the new 9001:2026 version. Certificates cannot be issued with a validity period of only one year; if you apply for the older version, it will be unacceptable by September 2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, if you already have ISO 9001:2015, you can switch your audit standards to ISO 9001:2026 during the 2028-2029 surveillance audit or recertification audit, and complete the transition resolution and reissue of the new certificate before the transition period deadline. In other words, you can schedule the transition around 2029, but only if:<strong>That year was &quot;still in the transition period,&quot; and the transition had to be completed before the deadline.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, it&#039;s crucial to note that if the IAF\/accreditation system&#039;s announced transition period isn&#039;t 3 years (it might be shorter), or if the CB (verification body) stipulates a certain date after which surveillance\/recertification must be conducted using the new requirements (meaning you can&#039;t delay until 2029), then you&#039;re in trouble. Furthermore, if client CSRs, supplier evaluations, or government\/large enterprise tenders require &quot;the latest version&quot; or &quot;completed conversion,&quot; then a non-compliant certificate will result in disqualification from bidding, a downgrade in supplier status, or the need for additional supplementary documentation. With everyone rushing to convert before the deadline, the schedules of verification bodies and auditors will inevitably become very tight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">3.
